To check and see what your default input and output devices are in Google Meet, select your settings button ( 3 vertical dots ) once you have joined the meeting.

You will then be taken to the screen that you see below. In the 'Audio" settings you can change your microphone and your Speakers. You should always check this setting after you undock your laptop from your desk. To test either of these options you can select the 'Test' button next to speakers ( a notification sound will play ) or you can talk and see if the blue circle with the dots moves. If the dots move your microphone is working.

This is what an active mic will look like if it is detecting sound.

If you click on the Microphone or the Speakers tab you'll see multiple options, use the Default option that is offered.

If you are plugged into a dock you will see two options for Speakers. One will be Speakers the other one will be Headphones. Headphones is your sound system in your classroom ( they are plugged in through the headphone jack ). If you wish to have the sound play through on your sound system select the 'Default - Headphones' option. If you want it to be through your speakers select the 'Speakers' option ( this will not say default if the dock is plugged in because your machine will want to default to the sound system ).

**Make sure under 'Microphone' that it says Default - Microphone Array. I have seen that sometimes it will try to use the Doc Cameras as the microphone**

If you try these steps and are unable to still get your microphone or speakers to work, please submit a ticket.
